Any New Hockey Skuttlebutt?

In the Navy the term skuttlebutt refers to a water bucket, water cooler or drinking fountain. Sailors would gather around it during a break and exchange news and gossip.

So does anyone have any news or gossip about the hockey game?

Has it gone into beta testing?

Any ideas about what teams or seasons would be available?

Possible release date?

Bueller? Bueller? Bueller? Anyone? Anyone? Anyone?

KEN DRYDEN HOCKEY LEAGUE

The Ken Dryden Hockey League will combine the DK Sports hockey software with an unique salary cap based on actual NHL salaries. Another unique aspect of the league is a 10 man reserve roster designed to test your ability to identify and retain future NHL stars.

The rulebook has been used for a DMB baseball league that has flourished for 10 years and a DK Sports pro football league that has existed for over 7 years.

Being relatively new to the Action! PC games, I wanted to ask a few questions in regards to the upcoming hockey simulator. Over the past few years, I spent quite a lot of time playing EHM, EHM 2005 and 2007. I found the games fairly enjoyable and detailed, albeit a little buggy and missing some core features. Very much looking foward to the upcoming release! I haven't played any hockey computer sims and wondering from the brief description in the email from DK if this is similar to other hockey games like strat, or if this is something different? It certainly sounds like Dave has a great idea to capture the flow of hockey!

call me odd, but i love playing seasons that featured really bad teams. like 1967-68 with the hapless 15-42-17 oakland seals, the 1969-70 kings at 14-52-10, the 1972-73 islanders at 12-60-6, or the 1974-75 capitals and their woeful 8-67-5 record.

CM will make or break this game

I am really looking forward to this game. What will make or break this game in my opinion will be the Computer Manager (CM).

Will the CM be capable of handling different rules (especially player limits) from different era's.

NHL rules for "active skaters per game" was as follows --
1960-61 = 16 skaters - usually 11 forwards, 5 dmen
1971-72 = 17 skaters - mix of 12 forwards, 5 dmen AND 11 forwards, 6 dmen
1982-83 = 18 skaters - todays most...

I was skimming seasons in the store this morning and noticed for the first time that Dave has a link to the hockey game on there. Of course when you click on it you get an empty hockey category screen. How long has this been there? Is this the first rumblings of an impending release? I hope so....

I am looking to purchase a hockey game this fall and was hoping this game would be available to compete with Strat-o-matic. I like Strat-o-matic Hockey (customer service stinks) but I really want to try something different this year.

Will this game be available sometime in the near future?

Can anyone provide any details on how the mechanics of the game will work and maybe how this game will compare to Strat-o-matic?
