According to Hockey Reference, the US skated only four defensemen in the first game against Sweden. Jack O'Callahan got hurt in the game against the Soviets right before Lake Placid, so they only dressed 17 skaters. I'm playing the game with as-played lineups and the US defensemen are down to zero fatigue by about eight minutes to go in the first. To make matters worse, one of them took a five minute major and ten minute misconduct in the first period. It's 9-0 Sweden in the third in a game the US actually tied 2-2. Does anyone know, did some forwards actually skate on D in that game? I wanted to do as-played, but that doesn't seem like a realistic option.
