I just began replaying 08 season new version pro football and already into week 2.I am enjoying this very much and find the new AI more challenging than it had
been previously.I play solitare h2h and click cpu for opposing team.The one issue I have so far is with the special situations window in late half or game
situations that always seem to utilize for cpu opponent the 3wr2back formation that often time will see your all-pro tight end[Whiten,Gonzalez etc.] remain off
the field and be replaced with what amounts to strictly a blocking back.This formation is rarely used nowadays and no team would replace a big time TE target
with a blocking back at critical late half-game junctions.There doesn't appear to be a way to manually adjust this,so I will occasionly set the
formation[3wr-1back] play hurry-up,and hit combo pass.
These situations arise defensively as well,as you will see teams go nickel -dime late to better defend passing game when leading,but as in a recent game when my Atl.team trailed cpu TB by 3,with about 6 min left and ball at my own 20.Certainly more than enough time to run the ball still,,which I did very effectively with Turner running from pro basic advancing to TB 6 with about 3 min left,first and goal.I then tried to adjust special situations defense to all allow them to go base to better defend running game,but even at the two yardline running from pro base TB still was running 3-3 nickel.I guess the point to all this is I would like more manuel control of opposing teams formations,while allowing cpu to just call the play itself.
There are a few other things that may need tweaked,such as giving you more control of cpu with 4th down situations [perhaps pop-up window with go for it or kick options]and a few minors such as the penalty rule instituted just a few years ago on all kick returns that result in 5 yard penalties[inelgible man downfield on punting team] where return team is given the option to take 5 yards added to return or re-kick.Haven't played enough games to see the tuck rule yet either.As I indicated the game itself is great and will never go back to another simulation.Hope a few of you veteran gamers might chip in with any thoughts or suggestions
